The two new English boats are almost finished over here. Hopefully they will be ready, fitted out for Travemunde The Earls have been racing all winter so you guys better get training Also I think I have talked Olav and Katrin to come to your Nationals with us so there will be two boats from over here, over there !goed Did you know that thirty years ago in 1975, the first Euro Cup was held at Enkhuizen? 16 Dutch boats, 5 German boats and one british boat (Paul Wright) It was also not official because at the time the KNVW and the DSV had not officially regonised the Javelin as a Class so there really should not have been a Championship!!! There was a proposal to fit twin trapezes which was stopped by changing rule 13 The 2.5mt Spinnaker boom was introduced. A plan to bulid Javelins with wooden decks was voted on. All but one British member voted for. You guys were 50/50 and all but one German member voted against. Because there was not a two third majority it was dropped. Who says the British take no notice of the mainlanders Also by December 1975 there had been 246 Javelins built. 121 in the UK 67 went to Germany 39 to The Netherlands 6 to Brunei 4 to Scotland 3 to Austria 2 to Switzerland 1 to Israel 1 to Saudi Arabia 1 to Malaysia 1 to The Bahamas Peter Milne, the Javelin designer, was interviewed by Yachts & Yachting in 1975 and he said "My boats don't necessarily appeal to me as the boat I would like to have but the Javelin was designed for my own personal enjoyment" Lucky us!!! Oh and lastly a couple of Brothers attended all 5 Open meetings in 1975 and won at the Buckenham Open. They were called Brian and David Earl. Ever heard of them?????? Cheers see you soon Mike [ Edited ] | ||
